Twenty-nine teams to participate in the Taekwondo competition on Saturday

The sixth annual edition of the Korean Ambassador’s Cup is organized by the Rwanda Taekwondo Federation (RTF) and mainly sponsored by Korean Embassy and Ethiopian Airlines among others.

18 Rwandan teams will participate while 11 others will come from, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya and Sudan.

Korean Ambassador’s Cup expects approximately 200 players to compete in juniors, seniors and Para-Taekwondo category which bring together players with disabilities.

The awards will see the best country awarded, the best club, best referee the best players who will be given medals (1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place) and certificates of participation.

The two top players (one in both male and female categories) of the competition will be awarded by Ethiopian Airlines with a ticket from Kigali to Dubai.

The President of Rwanda Taekwondo Federation (RTF), Mr. Placide Bagabo, said preparations for the tournament have gone well and spectators will watch high class Taekwondo.

“I call upon Rwandans to come and watch the game. We also have confidence that Rwandan players will emerge winners of the competition and scoop the best player and best country awards because they are highly experienced,” he said.

Korean Ambassador’s Cup is one of the events that Rwanda Taekwondo Federation hosts annually. The first edition was hosted in 2013.

Last year’s edition where eight African countries participated was won by Dream Taekwondo Club, a Rwandan team.
