Two Children Die from Eating Poisoned Meat

Two children in Rubavu District have reportedly died after they consumed meat of a poisoned cow.

The Incidence occured at Nyamyumba Sector last week.

However, a Local resident Aime Nteziyaremye said that the carcass of the poisoned cow was burried but those who disposed of the carcass later returned exhumed it.

An area veterinary officer had warned residents against consuming the meat during the process of disposing of the carcass but some residents insisted that the meat was not dangerous.

Martin Habimana, the Nyamyumba Sector Executive Secretary confirmed the incident and explained that soon after food poisoning was suspected; scores of residents suspected to have consumed the meat were taken to Gisenyi Hospital.
