Launched at the Kigali Convention Centre on Saturday, the new vehicles look so smart and are said to be durable with engines that uses petrol and diesel.
Mahindra KUV100 NXT is a leisurely car with the capacity to carry five people. It is in two types with one using petrol while another uses diesel. This car is in different colours, has five gears and fuel tank of 35 litres.
Launched also is Mahindra SCORPIO Pickup, the six-gear carrier and mountain galloper appears in single and double-cabin types.
Akagera Motors’ Commercial Director, R Shivaprakash, said there are special offers attached to the new brands.
“Mahindra is the first company in Rwanda to offer a five-year guarantee, this is special for these cars. We are also offering two options to clients to choose either a petrol or diesel car,” said Shivaprakash.
“As President Kagame recently said that Africa should not be a dumping place for old cars, these are brand new cars from India, manufactured with high technology and having nice exterior and spacious interior features. We believe that young Rwandans, women and other categories will like them most because these cars are suitable for them.”
These cars also have the specialty of low fuel consumption as one diesel litre does 21 kilometres with brand new Mahindra while the second hand requires one litre for 10 kilometres.
Acquiring these cars is even so easy as Akagera Motors has inked partnership with Bank of Kigali, I&M Bank and Cogebanque through which banks’ clients can receive the cars on loan to be repaid in two or five years.
