The delegation led by Eng. Saif Nasser Al-Kindi was received in Rwanda yesterday by the forum of football training centers operating in Rwanda, known as ‘Ijabo Ryawe Rwanda’.
Ijabo Ryawe Rwanda is a forum of 223 football training centers operating countrywide to develop football throughout youth training centers.
Speaking to the media yesterday, the head of the delegation and the Chief Executive Officer of Oman’s Excellence Sports Academy, Eng. Saif Nasser said that they came to Rwanda to discuss different issues of cooperation between their academies.
“We have experts at grassroots and team members who have been working in different countries and have many years of experience in football. Generally, we have a very good experience in grassroots football, so we will discuss the cooperation to promote our football academies,” he said.
The visit follows a courtesy call by the Head of Ijabo Ryawe Rwanda, Sheikh Hamdan Habimana to the Oman-based officials in October last year where he visited Oman’s Excellence Sports Academy as part of fostering relations aimed at developing grassroots football in Rwanda.
Habimana said that though Oman is not well known in football Worldwide, Rwanda will benefit from them in terms of technical assistance.
“We need cooperation from them in terms of technical assistance as our children are well talented in football. They are not well known in football’s international scene, but they have developed sectors like health sector, so, here they can help us with medication when a player gets a problem,” he said.
On Tuesday, the delegation also visited Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) where they were received by its president, Rtd. Brig. Gen. Jean Damascène Sekamana and discussed grassroots football development and possible cooperation pact.
