{Three people are reported to have perished in a Saturday downpour that left 805 houses destroyed in different parts of the country. }
It has been confirmed by the Director of Disaster Response and Recovery at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugees Affairs (MIDIMAR) , Mr. Philippe Habinshuti.
“A total of 776 houses from Kigali city including 704 from Nyarugenge district,74 from Kicukiro district were destroyed; 298 houses were destroyed in the sectors of Nyarugenge, 120 in Nyakabanda ,51 in Nyamirambo,121 in Rwezamenyo,25 in Kigali sector,15 in Kinyinya,11 in Kimisagara and 62 houses destroyed in Gitega sector,” he told IGIHE.
“ In Kicukiro district, 70 houses were destroyed in Kigarama sector, while two houses were destroyed in Kicukiro and Gikondo. An electric post was ravaged along with Mpazi water canal (Ruhurura), Ntaraga stony road was destroyed along with 10 classrooms at various schools while 29 houses were destroyed in Kamonyi district,” he added.
The identities of the dead were not identified.
