This has been unveiled in today’s discussions aimed at addressing challenges in the drive against malnutrition that brought together non-governmental organizations, leaders in charge of social welfare in Eastern Province and the management of the Ministry of Local Government.
The Minister of State in Charge of Social Affairs and Community Development in the Ministry of Local Government Dr. Alvera Mukabaramba has said that the government of Rwanda has constructed a plant that will produce food for vulnerable citizens.
“There is a food processing plant that will mainly produce for pregnant women and children under five with malnutrition problems from the first and second Ubudehe categories. It has started operating but foods have not yet been distributed among beneficiaries because the samples were handed to Rwanda Standards Board to be tested before official launch,” she said.
The general secretary of non-governmental organizations, Venuste Muhamyankaka has said that they are set to start mobilizations because they have realized that many people face the problem of inadequate knowledge and poor understandings on preparing balanced diet.
