Murekezi urges new prosecutors on genocide cases

The Prime Minister, Anastase Murekezi has requested the prosecution to put much effort in investigations and give undivided attention to files relating to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and make sure that all culprits are brought to book.

Murekezi noted this yesterday as he presided over the swearing in of four new prosecutors including three at higher level; Murigirwa Esther, Rusanganwa Augustin and Kamikazi Bizimana Christa and Ingabire Yvette at basic level.

He lauded the prosecution body for meeting interests of the nation.

“The government of Rwanda requests the prosecution to give particular attention to files related to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. You have started investigations on Rwandans and foreigners for being accomplices in genocide who must be brought to justice through thorough investigations respecting justice principles, Rwanda and international rules,” he said.

“There are other serious crimes you must give particular attention, like human trafficking, to penalize offenders and bring it to a stop in Rwanda. You are also required to put efforts in pursuing drug traffickers and abusers in the courts of law as well as culprits of misappropriating government resources,” said Murekezi.

The Prime Minister requested new prosecutors to demonstrate outstanding performance through patriotism, striving for unity of Rwandans, commitment at work and accepting advice and suggestions from co-workers and people they lead.
