{A ten-year old child from Kabirizi village, Gahinga cell in Mururu sector of Rusizi district drowned in River Rusizi yesterday and one was rescued. The dead has been identified as Imadou Mirindi. }
The information has been confirmed by the executive secretary of Mururu sector, Jean Pierre Iyakaremye.
“It is true; two children were involved in a mishap as they swam in the river. One was rescued while another went missing till his body was retrieved at around 13:30 hours,” he said.
The deceased was buried yesterday.
Iyakaremye has said they will be holding a meeting to advise parents on keeping their children away from swimming in the river.
