{Rwanda peacekeepers serving under the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Central Africa Republic (MINUSCA) with their Central African friends celebrated the 22nd Anniversary of Rwanda liberation, in an event held at Rwanbatt11 Camp Socatel M’Poko in Bangui City.}
The Liberation22 celebrations were marked by Rwandan traditional dance, Marshal Arts and speeches focusing on the liberation of Rwanda.
The Guest of Honour of the day was the CAR Prime Minister Mr. Simplice SARANDJI. Mr. Simplice commended extensively the professionalism and discipline of Rwanda peacekeepers in CAR and in other peace keeping mission areas. He further noted that he had no doubt that Rwandans commitment comes from their history of resilience. “Your good performance here and elsewhere in mission areas proves that you are the best, great and disciplined Army I have ever seen in Africa”,Mr. Simplice said.
In his remarks, the Rwanbatt3 Commanding Officer, Lt Col Claver Kirenga, expressed his deep gratitude to the invited guests for having honoured with their presence the highly important historical event for Rwandans. “The liberation of Rwanda meant to restore rights to the Rwandan citizens, equality, democracy and unity for all Rwandans”, said Lt Col Kirenga. Other officials present included the Deputy MINUSCA Force Commander, Lt Gen SIDIKI D. Traore.
Rwanda Peacekeepers -Rwanbatt1- deployed in Juba, South Sudan Republic, were joined by the Rwandan Community in South Sudan and friends in celebrating the 22nd Liberation anniversary.
The Rwanbatt11 Commanding Officer, Lt Col John Ndengeyinka told the gathering at the ceremony that 4th July is a reminding day when the Rwanda Patriotic Army stopped the genocide against the Tutsi and liberated the country from decades of bad politics and bad leadership. He stressed that after the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, Rwanda has been steadily recovering under the good leadership of HE President Paul Kagame.
In his speech, the Guest of Honour of the Day, Ambassador AROP KOUL, Director General in Charge of Bilateral Relations and Regional Cooperation, South Sudan Foreign Affairs Ministry, told the participants that his country takes Rwanda as a role model in post conflict recovery. He commended HE President Paul Kagame for liberating Rwanda but also for his tireless efforts to develop Rwanda. “We have visited Rwanda; we saw and appreciated what Rwandans are doing. Rwanda is a role model in Africa”, Ambassador KOUL said.
While delivering his remarks, the UN Secretary General Deputy Special Representative in South Sudan, Moustapha Soumare commended the government of Rwanda for the country’s reconstruction after the genocide against the Tutsi. He noted that Rwanda has come from ashes of genocide to become a respected country that today ranks among 5 most Troop and Police contributing Countries in peace support operations across the world.
The representative of the Rwandan community in South Sudan, Kalisa Jean Bosco hailed the good collaboration between Rwandan community and Rwanda peacekeepers in South Sudan.
