{The executive secretary of National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC), Fidele Ndayisaba says that giving Rwandans enough space for involvement in ‘Ndi Umunyarwanda’ program and telling the truth will free hearts, enhance reconciliation and heal wounds left by 1994 genocide against Tutsi.}
He revealed this recently during a sensitization talk on ‘Ndi umunyarwanda‘ held in Huye district where some residents expressed worries over hindrances to unity and reconciliation among Rwandans.
He appealed to those with information about the scattered remains of victims of the 1994 genocide against to volunteer it so that they can be accorded decent burial.
“Some people don’t know where remains of relatives are buried which creates grief,” ,”said Guillaume Sebaganwa, Huye resident.
Ndayisaba said that Ndi Umunyarwanda program is one way of solving the matter and requested local leaders to allow citizens enough space to tell each other the truth and reveal more information left out during Gacaca jurisdictions through Ndi Umunyarwanda talks.
“People who were unable to reveal information ,we have decided that they must have a space to bring down the burden revealing information which can reduce the inner pain of people unaware of where their relatives were buried,” he said.
The research carried out by NURC in 2010 indicated that unity and reconciliation among Rwandans was at 82%.
NURC reveals that the recent research which has not yet been published indicates that unity and reconciliation among Rwandans stands at over 90%.
