{In line with Rwanda National Police (RNP) crime prevention mechanism, commercial motorcyclists and cyclists operating in Nyamagabe District and students of College Christ Roi in Nyanza have created six anti-crime clubs that will serve as forums to contribute to crime prevention and reduction.}
The clubs were created following anti-crime campaign by police officer directed to commercial motorcyclists and cyclists, and students held separately on June 7.
Jerome Nsabimana, a motorcyclist from Nyamagabe District said; “We decided to form anti-crime clubs because we believe we can contribute to making our community safer through strong partnership with the police.”
The District Police Commander of Nyamagabe, Supt. François Segakware said; “forming anti-crime clubs is a good initiative that proves your commitment to ensure a safer environment for your communities.”
“It is one thing to create these clubs but it is another thing to be active. Use these forums to fight against anyone who may be involved in criminal activities; create a way of sharing information amongst yourselves and whenever you suspect something or someone of being involved in criminal activities, inform the police immediately,” Supt. Segakware told the motorcyclists and cyclists.
Besides crime prevention, SP Segakware urged them to always abide by traffic rules and avoid reckless riding that may cause accidents.
“Your job is of great importance to many Rwandans, that’s why you should give it value, mind your safety and that of others.”
There are 84 anti-crime clubs in Nyamagabe and 26 in Nyanza.
