Rwanda Defence Force Generals undergo Physical Fitness Test

{On 29 April, RDF Generals assisted by the Director of Sports in the RDF successfully passed the physical fitness test (PFT), organised by the RDF. This was the last group of RDF personnel to undergo the ?fitness test, for the first quarter of 2016. The physical fitness among RDF personnel constitutes an essential function of the Force’s day-to-day effectiveness and combat readiness.}

“Within two hours, all participants of today’s PFT recorded good performance in three physical exercises in accordance with their respective age. To give an example, one of the generals recorded more than 65 sit-ups in less than two minutes”, revealed Lt Col Simba Kinesha, the Director of Sports in the RDF.

The PFT consists of push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2-mile run (3.218 Km) to be performed in that order on the same day. In accordance with international standards, both officers and other ranks must attain a score of at least 60 points on each event and an overall score of at least 180 points. The maximum score officer/other ranks can attain on the PFT is 300 points.

The physical fitness test among the RDF personnel is an annual exercise. It is conducted quarterly.
