A one Alexis Mutagoma, 31, resident of Mbuye cell of Mbuye sector in Nyaruguru district is detained at the police over alleged murder of his wife Donatille Uwimana with a foot kick in her rib cage. She was also 31.
Information from neighbors indicates that the incident took place yesterday on April 11th, 2016 when Mutagoma kicked his wife accusing her of using fence poles for firewood.
“It was around 8:00 am when Mutagoma came and found that the woman had pulled a pole from the enclosure of their residence. They immediately quarreled till they started fighting. The man kicked her in the ribs and she suddenly fell down. On arrival, we found her dead,” said one neighbor.
“Realizing that he had killed his wife, Mutagoma tried to escape but we caught him near his home, dumbstruck,” added the neighbour.
The mayor of Nyaruguru district, François Habitegeko confirmed news of Uwimana’s death. “Mutagoma has been arrested. He is detained at Ngera police station while the body of Uwimana has been taken at Munini hospital for autopsy,” he said.
Habitegeko says that the local administration had no records of conflicts between Mutagoma and Uwimana and appeals on citizens to avoid violence. He urged them to resolve conflicts peacefully or seek assistance from local administration.
Alexis Mutagoma and Donatille Uwimana are all aged 31 years old. They have beget two children over four years since they were married.
