Dr Rose Mukankomeje, the director general of Rwanda Environmental Management Authority (REMA) has been arrested by police over alleged crime of concealing information on suspects of bribery-related crimes.
Talking to IGIHE, the spokesperson of Rwanda National Police, ACP Celestin Twahirwa has confirmed the arrest of Dr Mukankomeje saying she is pursued by the police in collaboration with the ombudsman’s office.
Twahirwa said that Mukankomeje is being investigated of crimes related to alleged to former leaders of Rutsiro district including the mayor and the executive secretary.
“It is true that she has been arrested. She is being investigated over suspected crimes related to accusations of former Rutsiro leaders of misappropriating public funds and corruption cases. She tried to conceal their crimes and attempted to reveal job secrets,” said Twahirwa.
Twahirwa said he can’t reveal much about the arrest of Mukankomeje since it is the beginning of the investigations.
