Madam Jeannette Kagame receives anti-gender based violence award

{The First Lady, Madam Jeannette Kagame, has received the award she won for excellent achievements in fighting gender-based violence and promoting women ladies in development.}

The First Lady received the award yesterday during the ongoing National Leadership Retreat held in Gabiro. She won the recognition during the 5th Kigali International Conference Declaration (KICD) General Assembly held in Algiers, Algeria.

The awarding ceremony attended by the minister of internal security, Musa Fazil Harerimana and the minister of gender and family promotion, Oda Gasinzigwa, was held at the sides of the ongoing national retreat.

When the award was announced, Madam Jeannette Kagame was represented by IGP Emmanuel Gasana.

Madam Jeannette Kagame received this award as the second runner up in fighting against gender-based violence especially for the implementation of “Isange One Stop Centre”, a practice which emerged as a model for other countries to combat gender based violence and children rights abuse.

Algerian president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika received the award in fighting gender-based violence as the first runner up while the secretary general of United States, Ban Ki-Moon received the award as the third runner up.
