President Kagame: We do not intend to disappoint ourselves

{President Paul Kagame has reacted to the recent statement released by the United States of America expressing dissatisfaction over his decision to accept Rwandans’ call to continue leading the country after his first two terms in 2017, saying that nobody should be loaded with Rwandans burdens since they have committed to carry their own load.}

Following the response of 1st January accepting to lead Rwandans after 2017, US has linked the decision to denying rare opportunities of building Rwanda’s democratic environment.

Through his twitter account, president Kagame said “So…disappointing? as a people and a leader /choices?? Uhhm…it hurts!!!I promise we don’t intend to disappoint …especially ourselves!!!”

“Africa’s problems; poverty, disease, governance, technology…etc will not easily be solved by what is behind this ‘deep disappointment…’attitude!!!!”He added.

He also said that “…There are quite many very disappointing things happening across the globe we hope to carry our own burden and not be others’ burden….!!!”
President Kagame in the message he conveyed to Rwandans on 1st January 2016 at midnight said that he supports shared power rather than granting the power to one person.

He said “I think our target is not about getting an eternal leader. It is against my will. Soon the responsibility of carrying out presidential duties will have to experience succession to the extent it will have a positive impact beyond the exemplary either for us or others.”

Regarding critics of Rwanda resulting from misunderstanding of Rwanda’s will, he said that the hope of Rwandans can lead to complementarities and that all people need to respect one another.
