Rwanda National Police has arrested three men in connection with stealing a brand new motorcycle from Rwanda Motors stores.
Suspects who are current detained at Gikondo Police station are identified as Eugene Nshimiyimana 29, Joseph Muhirwa 38 and Samuel Abayisenga 23.
Police spokesperson for the central region, Supt. Modeste Mbabazi said that police received information about a suspected robbery at Rwanda Motors stores on December 17 where a Suzuki motorcycle spare parts were stolen.
“At about 11:50 pm, we found the motorcycle at Nshimiyimana’s home as the three suspects were assembling it. Both Nshimiyimana and Abayisenga are guards at Rwanda Motors while Muhirwa is a porter,” said Supt. Mbabazi.
“We thank those that tipped us about these suspects, and warn the public against such acts. The police are always on alert and no one will walk away with such a crime,” he warned.
The suspects risk a jail sentence of up to two years if found guilty as stipulated by article 300 of the penal code.
The article states that, “Any person who commits theft without violence or threat shall be liable to a term of imprisonment of six months to two years and a fine of two to five times the value of the stolen property or one of these penalties.”
