Share experiences with peers–Eastern Province Governor

{District advisory committees in Eastern Province have been urged to move fast in the implementation of budget plans to avoid unfilled gaps during the upcoming transitional period leading to local leaders’ elections.}

The message was conveyed yesterday during a security meeting held in Eastern province.

District committees and advisory councils’ mandate will end on 30th December 2015. Districts’ executive secretaries will take on the responsibility of districts leadership for two months until new leaders are elected.

Uwamariya Odette, the Eastern Province governor told leaders that a lot needs to be achieved before the term of service expires. She requested them share experiences and best practices with districts that are not performing well so that they can all advance in attaining the performance contracts targets.

“We had enough time to discuss with outgoing officials who demonstrated willingness to leave things in normal situation. Even successors should be ready to take on the planned activities,” she said.

Rwagasana Ernest, the president of Kirehe district advising committee says that through the meeting they were reminded of which areas should be given priority and as the term comes to an end.

He added that working with district executive secretaries has commenced and expect a special meeting to orient and get them acquainted with priority areas during the transitional period.
