Teachers’ Itorero postponed

{A civic education exercise (itorero) meant to benefit about 60,000 teachers, scheduled from 6th to 15th December, has been postponed, according to the National Itorero Commission.}

Talking to IGIHE, the head of National Itorero Commission, Boniface Rucagu has confirmed the postponement citing unavailability of trainers many of who will be handling other assignments during the time.

“It is true that the civic education has been suspended. The would-be trainers will be attending various important meetings regarding their tasks at the time when they would be training teachers. Another issue is the great number of teachers involved in marking national exams,” he said.

Rucagu explained that officials in charge of organizing Itorero will find appropriate time of training that doesn’t hamper with teachers’ core businesses.

Since 2008, a total of 40,000 teachers have attended the civic education that accentuates eradication of genocide ideology from amongst school communities and getting them acquainted with and uphold national values.
