{A forty nine years old demobilized man, Munyekawa Jean Paul attests that he has multiplied 200 folds the fund he received in 2002 provided by Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (RDRC). He is a dweller in Impala cell, Bushenge sector in Nyamasheke district. }
Munyekawa in an interview with Imvaho Nshya argued that he committed to maximize the incentive pay received since he retrenched from the army following advices of President Paul Kagame.
“When I retrenched from the army, I received 320 thousands the only possession I had at the time. Even though I perceived the fund to be insufficient; I was committed to expand business following constant advices we used to hear from our commander to increase the production from too little we own. I have used the fund until the production increases 200 times. ” Said Munyekawa.
He attests that he started from a small shop in which he generated the money to feed his family. Through generated benefits, he partnered with Banque Populaire du Rwanda (BPR) which gave him a cow worth 500 thousands. He bred in a modern way that the first young cow was sold 800 thousands and got respectively 400 thousands from the second and received 550 thousands for the third heifer an amount of money that helped him to expand his shop.
As the income was increasing, he started the commerce of fertilizers that played a big role in the expansion of his wealth.
“The good management of my business facilitated me to build an attractive house of 32 million .I have another house of 5 million in which I run the business of selling fertilizers. Moreover, I have wide woodlands, farms and a bar in Bushenge earning enough money every month.” He said.
He said that he plans to buy a car which he thinks will help him to transport fertilizers to customers going in hand with educating his children in excellent schools and boosting his family’s welfare as well.
He appeals to young generation to start business regardless of scarcity of money provided that too little can earn much more.
