As statistics from MINECOFIN show, the 2015-2015 national budget comprises of Rwf 1,768 billion.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Ambassador Gatete Claver declared that the budget has various activities in which citizens have to participate. This acted as the major motive to provide budget information support through awareness books.
“This book implies necessary information helping citizens to know the preparation of national budget as well as its implementation policies to attract their increased participation.” Says Amb. Gatete.
He further explains that citizens will have participation in budget preparation and follow up outcomes of budget predictions.
“The book will enhance citizens’ freedom of expressing their views on possible usage of the budget.” He added.
Munyeshyaka Vincent, the permanent secretary in the ministry of local government said that there is a plan to motivate local leaders to help citizens access budget awareness booklets.
It is expected that released booklets will be distributed in all districts .The ministry of Finance and Economic planning in partnership with Civil Society will move around the country to state in details components of the 2014-2015 national budget.
The budget booklet implies that efforts will be concentrated on boosting economic development, energy sector and public transport among others.
