{Belgian pop star Stromae wowed the crowd Saturday night in Kigali in a landmark concert and homecoming for the half-Rwandan singer, whose father was killed in the 1994 Genocide.}
The singer, who broke off an African tour in June after falling sick to the huge disappointment of fans, performed to a packed stadium during a first concert in Rwanda over the weekend, after performances in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.
Stromae should have performed in Kigali back in June however, he was forced to postpone the concert due to ill health. After more than three month’s delay the concert was finally held on Saturday.
More than 20,000 fans, Rwandans and expats, young and old and even the Rwandan First Lady Jeanette Kagame were to see Stromae perform.

The show was attended by Minister of Culture and Sports Uwacu Julienne, Minister of Health Agnes Binagwaho among other government officials.
Stromae coming back home is a great emotional feeling he said, with an ambiguous mix of identities and influences, Stromae was born and raised in Belgium, but always “felt like an outsider, he added.
After rocking Kigali strong-crowd with his hits Formidable, Alors on Danse, Papaoutai, among others he held a private meeting with his family before going back home.
