The Rwanda Defence Force Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Patrick Nyamvumba on August 12 inaugurated the new building of RDF Engineer Brigade Headquarters located at Rebero in Kicukiro District.
The RDF CDS congratulated Engineer Brigade for having generated their own resources to construct the inaugurated modern Office Block and facilities. He urged them to uphold discipline and to remain focused on their primary role of creating mobility corridor to RDF troops in operation. “With the right attitude, we can achieve more, once again thank you for the initiative”, he told the RDF Engineer Brigade.
Apart from the Offices, the new modern building conceived and constructed in seven months by the RDF Engineers has a meeting hall (Auditorium) that can accommodate more than 130 people and a Cafeteria.
Despite challenges (human resources and equipment) the RDF Engineer successfully has undertaken 111 construction projects nationwide in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and the Rwanda Transport Development Agency and other Government Agencies from 2014 to 2015. More than 1700 unexploded ordinances were recovered and destroyed in all four provinces and City of Kigali.
The primary mission of RDF Engineer Brigade is to provide intimate combat engineer support to maneuver units in the battlefield and general construction and engineering services to RDF and other government agencies in peace and war situation.
The inauguration of the new Rwanda Defence Force Engineer Brigade Headquarters was also attended by the RDF Services Chiefs, Generals and RDF Engineer Brigade Partners.
