24 out of 26 Senators agreed that the Rwandan Constitution should be updated and reviewed, a move that will allow President Paul Kagame to compete for a third term.
The proposed constitutional amendments have drawn support from millions of Rwandans who have sent petitions to the Senate for consideration.
Hundreds of people trekked long distances to Parliament in Kigali to witness today’s session that has seen majority of Senators vote for the Constitutional amendments.
Several people outside Parliament Building said they will not accept foreign interference, insisting they know what is good for Rwanda.
