Rwandan Parliament as a house of People not Happy with the arrest of Lt. Gen. Karenzi

{The Speaker of Rwandan Parliament Donatilla Mukabalisa has told the British High Commissioner to Rwanda, William Gelling OBE on 23 June 2015 that it is unfortunate that the visit of Lieutenant General Karenzi Karake to London coincided with his arrest but also that the parliament as a house of representatives of people, is not happy with the arrest of one of the generals who stopped the Genocide.}

William Gelling paid a courtesy call to the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies in a visit that precedes the coming of Andrew Mitchel, a British Member of Parliament.

Their discussion focuses on how Andrew Mitchel would come to give a lecturer to Rwandan Parliamentarians on a topic that was not yet mentioned.

Meanwhile the two also discussed the arrest of one of top commanders of Rwandan defense forces Lieutenant General Karenzi Karake who was arrested in London (Heathrow airport) on 20th June on his way back to Rwanda from an official mission.

Besides that, the fact that it took place in a friend country where even genocidaires circulate freely, she says.

The High Commissioner of the United Kingdom stated there is no political will of his government in arresting General Karenzi Karake but that this was a legal obligation, following the issue of a valid European Arrest Warrant.

The British high commissioner refused to give any further comments and even refused an interview to journalists who were waiting for him at the entrance of the Parliament building.
