{On Tuesday 12th May 2015, Jean Pierre Nkunzurwanda, Head of International Cooperation in Rwanda’s Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration visited Hope Academy Rwanda to give a talk on immigration to secondary students.}

Mr Nkunzurwanda talked to the students about the role of the immigration directorate for both Rwandans and foreigners, the issue of citizenship, why immigration is important, and the agreements in place that make easy movement across borders possible. What can be a confusing topic was demystified and the talk was highly educational.

There was a discussion on the problems of instantly approving visa applications from countries where Rwanda does not maintain an embassy which lead to a conversation about the dilemma of online applications. Mr Nkunzurwanda said he was impressed by the quality of the suggestions the students came up with and by their knowledge of international affairs.
Hope Academy Rwanda is very grateful to Mr Nkunzurwanda for coming to speak to our students about immigration and its impact on Rwanda. “We are certain they found it enlightening and interesting.”
