Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College on study tour in Rwanda

A {delegation of 21 General and Senior Officers from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College are in Rwanda for a regional study tour from 19th–25th April 2015.}

The study tour is conducted under the theme “Enhancing African Integration through Defence, Political and Economic Cooperation”. The tour is aimed at broadening the knowledge of students about what is happening in other countries, exchanging ideas and programmes as well as fostering cooperation, said Brigadier General Kojo Osei-Sarfo who is leading the delegation.

At Rwanda Defence Forces Headquarters, the Ghanaian delegation paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff, General Patrick Nyamvumba and received an overview presentation on RDF organization, roles, current engagements and post-conflict security challenges in Rwanda.

From the meeting with the CDS, Brig Gen Kojo Osei-Sarfo, the head of the delegation who is also the Deputy Commandant of GAFCSC, expressed his satisfaction about what the RDF has achieved so far from the unfortunate past.

“The RDF now has arrived, they are not coming, they have come, they are already involved in international peace support operations and they are very active, I really admire their contribution”, he reiterated. He further noted that the cooperation between the RDF and the entire community; the social integration was very important; “the RDF is not working as an independent organisation but as part of the community”.

From the RDF Headquarters, the Ghanaian delegation visited and paid respect to Genocide against Tutsis’ Victims at Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre.

They will also visit Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College, Rwanda Military Academy (Gako), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ministry of Trade and Industry, National Museum and other Institutions relevant to the theme of the Study Tour.

Besides Brigadier General Kojo Osei-Sarfo, the delegation includes also members of the Directing Staff of the College, staff officers and students from four African countries.
