{Kite Festival starts Campaign with a high-flying success}
{ Saturday 21st February saw the start of Hope Academy Rwanda’s Solidarity Campaign 2015, in aid of Les Enfants de Dieu orphanage, Remera, Kigali, with a Kite Festival.}

The Festival was a fly-away success with games, food, and traditional dancing and drumming from the troupe at Les Enfants de Dieu. It was held at the new Campus in Gisozi. While the finishing touches are still being worked on, it was a great chance for everyone to see the progress being made and imagine what it will be like to learn in the new facilities.
Hope Academy Rwanda students had made kites in their art classes in the previous weeks in preparation for the day and were very excited to see their masterpieces flying high. Unfortunately, the wind proved too strong for their homemade kites, but the kites on sale were up to the challenge and soared to great heights. The younger students thoroughly enjoyed fighting the wind to keep their kites, while the older students acted a rapid response team for flyers and their kites who were having problems.
As well as kites, the Festival featured games for all ages and an opportunity for the entire school community to come together with the general public to help those less fortunate than themselves. Parents baked and cooked to keep the energy levels up, Tigo contributed gifts for those who excelled in the games, and Inyange generously donated water and juice to keep the crowd hydrated. Our thanks to all who gave their time, products and energy to making the day a success.
The Solidarity Campaign will run until May, with events planned throughout the period. We at Hope Academy Rwanda are confident that the Campaign will ultimately go higher and further than our kites on Saturday.
