UNAMID Force Commander commends Rwanda peacekeepers for good job

{ The United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) Force Commander, Lt Gen Paul Ignace Mella, on 01st February 2015 visited Rwanda peacekeepers in Nertiti Military Team Site in Central Sector, Darfur. }

He was received by the Rwanbatt 42 Commanding Officer Lt Col Venant Bizimungu and briefed on military operations conducted by Rwanda peacekeepers in the area.

The Force Commander commended the job well done by Rwandan Peacekeepers in a challenging working environment and urged them to maintain the momentum. He stressed on the UNAMID mandate in particular the protection of civilians.

“Your mandate stipulates that you have right to go wherever you may judge necessary in order to fulfil your mandate as UNAMID Peacekeepers, especially when it comes to protecting Civilians”, he underscored.
