
{Rwandan Community working in the Republic of the Sudan on 24 December 2014 handed over to Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission a contribution of $78,000 (equivalent to almost 55 million Rwandan francs) to support Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) Veterans living with disabilities. The humanitarian event took place at RDRC Commission headquarters in Kigali.}
Speaking during the function, the Chairperson of Rwandan Community in the Sudan, Mr Sulaiman Kalisa said that the donation aims at thanking and supporting RPA Veterans for liberating Rwanda.
“This is to give value and recognise those Veterans living with disabilities for their sacrifices during the liberation struggle of our country”, Sulaiman Kalisa stressed.
Kalisa noted that the funds would support the long term projects of the Veterans living with disabilities.

The Chairman of Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (RDRC), Mr Sayinzoga Jean thanked the RPA Veterans for their invaluable role in the liberation struggle of Rwanda. He thanked the Rwanda Community in Sudan for the contribution to the Veterans, which demonstrates “our values as Rwandans “. Mr Sayinzoga added that the money will be used to support tangible and sustainable development projects for the Veterans.
Kalisa noted that the donation of US $78,000 was a contribution by Rwandan international staff and Rwanda Peacekeepers working in the Sudan, during the last two years.
In 2012, Rwandan Community in the Sudan contributed $120,000 to Agaciro Development Fund.
