Isumbingabo Presents credential letters to Korean President

{Rwanda’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Emma Francoise ISUMBINGABO, presented the credential letters to the President of the Republic of Korea, Madam PARK Geun-Hye.}

The conversation between the President of Korea and Ambassador Isumbingabo focused on the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

They also talked about the use of ICT in the sectors like education, agriculture and security, trade and investment and technology exchange in the energy sector.

The President of Korea spoke mainly about Saemaul Undong (The New Community Movement, also known as the New Village Movement, a political initiative launched on April 22, 1970 by South Korean president Park Chung Hee to modernize the rural South Korean economy) and expressed her enthusiasm on the way it is developing in Rwanda and encouraged the Ambassador to follow it up closely.

The Republic of Korea was proclaimed in August 1948 and received UN backed support from the United States after the North invaded in 1950. The Korean War ended in 1953.

The Republic of Korea has a population of nearly 50 million and an area of 99,720 sq.km. Her GDP (PPP) is $1.338 trillion in economy that ranks 13th in the world. The Republic of Korea elected its first female President, H.E. PARK Geun-Hye in 2012.

Ambassador Emma Francoise ISUMBINGABO was appointed by the cabinet, as Rwandan envoy to the Republic of Korea, on 29 July 2014.
