Rwanda clears French Language on its new 2000 Frw & 5000 Rwf Bank notes

{Rwanda has removed French language on its newly approved bank notes of Rwf 5000 and Rwf 2000, IGIHE Reports.}

This follows the previous removal of French on Rwf 500 Bank note.

This means that the National Bank of Rwanda is ready to release new bills of 5000 Frw and 2000 Frw only in Kinyarwanda and English languages yet before the old notes had the French language as well.

In March this year the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda called upon the Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda to consider the French language while printing all new bank notes.

Despite the call, the cabinet meeting held on 12th November 2014 approved new bank notes of Rwf 5000 and Rwf 2000 on which there is no French language.
