Five Experts to assess complaints accusing BBC to Promote Divisionism

{The Regulatory Board of Rwanda Utility and Regulatory Authority, (RURA) has named Five Experts who will analyze allegations against BBC accused of disseminating divisionism among Rwandans, IGIHE reports.}

The Group of Five people will deeply assess the BBC’s record in respect of these complaints, and make recommendations on the way forward.
A statement from RURA says “…RURA today announced the formation of a Committee of Inquiry to establish BBC’s compliance with the agreements it has signed with Rwandan institutions.”

RURA suspended Kinyarwanda–‐language BBC broadcasts on 24 October 2014 after receiving numerous public complaints accusing the BBC of promoting divisionism and genocide ideology, a prima facie violation of those agreements.

Member Of the Executive Committee, African Association Of Prosecutors And Former Prosecutor–‐General Of Rwanda (Chairperson Of the Committee)

• Christophe Mfizi –Dean School Of Journalism, Catholic Institute Of Kabgayi ( ICK)

• Dr. Christopher Kayumba, Senior Lecturer, School Of Journalism and Communication, University Of Rwanda

• Rosine Urujeni, Rwanda Country Director, Indego Africa

• Evode Uwizeyimana, Vice Chairman, Rwanda Law Reform Commission.
