Nationwide search invites outstanding Rwandan entrepreneurs to compete for a $20,000 prize

{Inkomoko Business Development and its international partner, the African Entrepreneur Collective, have launched a new competition to identify an outstanding Rwandan entrepreneur who has significantly contributed to Rwanda’s development. The winner will be awarded at $20,000 USD prize at the 5th annual gathering of the African Leadership Network, hosted this year in Kigali from November 5-8.}

The Outstanding Rwandan Entrepreneur Award is intended to highlight one Outstanding Rwandan Entrepreneur who has used his or her business to advance the nation of Rwanda through job creation and innovation.

“Talented entrepreneurs are leading the way for Rwanda’s private sector development,” said Julienne Oyler, Executive Director of African Entrepreneur Collective. “We are thrilled to be able to recognize one of the countless young people who demonstrates the entrepreneurial spirit of Rwanda.”

Applications open today and will be accepted online until the deadline of October 10, 2014. The winner will be announced at the African Leadership Network Awards Gala in November.

The award is open to Rwanda-based entrepreneurs who started their businesses at the age of 35 or younger and whose businesses have contributed significantly to job creation in Rwanda, provide an innovative solution to one of Rwanda’s development challenges, have annual revenue turn-over of more than $50,000 USD annually, and have been profitable in the last year.

Applications are accepted via the application portal at http://bit.ly/1nSoR2D. A selection committee will review applications on the basis of their demonstrated job creation, innovation, profitability, and contribution to Rwanda’s development.
