Rwanda Senate President resigns

{The President of Senate Jean Damascene Ntawukuliryayo has resigned and taken up his seat as an ordinary senate.}

His resignation raises comments on social media with a reliable source saying the president is accused of “interfering” in affairs of other MPs, illegally hiring staff & illegally engaging foreign envoys.

Among 25 senators present, 24 voted to allow Dr Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo to resign and only one abstained.

Ntawukuriryayo, born 8 August 1961, was President of Senate since October 2011.

Ntawukuriryayo ran for 2010 Rwandan presidential elections, where he failed (he got round 5% of votes), and Paul Kagame was re-elected with more than 90% of votes.
