Emmanuel Hategeka, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade & Commerce said, “We like what Scorpio does and we thank her for making our raw materials valuable and providing employment to a big number of people, we should put hands together to see MIK as an international brand.”

The chairman of Rwanda Private Sector Federation (PSF) Hannington Namara gave a testimony of how he came to know about MIK;

“I remember it was in March when I received a phone call telling me there is a private company in Rwanda that you ‘don’t know about’, I denied and said that it was impossible”.

The following day I came to visit MIK company where I found amazing products, I immediately apologized for not knowing the company for a long time.”

Scorpio is a hard working lady and we are always ready to give her any support, he added.

In her speech, Scorpio thanked the MIK team saying, “If it were not them, I would not make it this far”.

IGIHE: What kind of products or services does Made in Kigali offer?

Scorpio: MIK provides ladies wears, gowns, dresses and also menswear, children, cooperate wear, industrial uniforms and many others.

Why were you exactly given that award by PSF in 2014 expo?

Scorpio: We were overall the best in good products, customer services and innovation.

Were you expecting the award?

Scorpio: Yeah …but not really if I knew I was going to win, I would have brought the whole MIK team!

Why did you choose to name you company Made in Kigali?

Scorpio: I want people out there to know that beautiful things can also be found in a country of 1000 hills.

What should Rwandans and other people expect from you?

Scorpio: We are always looking forward to bring the best for you and very soon we will venture in shoe production.

In terms of making MIK products known, what do you do?

Scorpio: So far, we make sure our employees put on MIK products and we use media for adverts not forgetting IGIHE.

Tell us anything interesting about you

Scorpio: Well…my physical appearance does not always portray my abilities but I hope my achievements speak louder.
