The ‘Youth Conference for Peace’ organized by Miracle Church was attended by the youth from various parts of the Eastern Province.
It aimed at fostering unity among the youth, having a common understanding in crime prevention and to construct houses for vulnerable families.
Others include enlightening them on various government development initiatives and how to be job creators.
Chief Inspector of Police Antoinette Umuraza, the Director of Community Policing in Rwanda National Police, while speaking to the youth, challenged them to be catalysts of crime prevention through timely reporting on anything that might affect the peace and security in their communities.
Community policing is the major approach used by RNP to involve various stakeholders especially the general public in fighting and preventing crimes.
“Be an eye for neighbors and report in time anything that can affect the well-being of your communities; policing is no longer a one man activity.
Approaching security challenges proactively will ensure sustainable security and development and your role in this noble cause, as responsible citizens, is vital,” CIP Umuraza noted.
She also urged them to uphold Rwandan values such as patriotism, integrity, dignity and refrain from anything that can affect their better future as the country’s major resource.
Rev. Gad Mugema, the Coordinator of Miracle Church in the Eastern Province also urged them not to be taken by the “wild life” and fighting things like drug abuse, sexual malpractices and be focused to their studies as the country’s future leaders.
