{{Africa’s Pioneer graduates of the Carnegie Mellon University have today been conferred upon their Masters of Science in Information technology.}}
The inaugural graduation ceremony was held at Kigali Serena hotel attended by 22 graduates including their parents, relatives and friends.
“We are grateful to the government of Rwanda for inviting and supporting us to undertake this historic initiative and for providing its support to our students,” noted Mr Bruce H Krogh, the Director Carnegie Mellon University in Rwanda-also a Professor Electrical and computer Engineering.
Mr. Krogh said, there are many people who worked tirelessly to make this day possible. The vision began at the Connect Africa Summit in 2007 in Kigali, where the government of Rwanda decided to establish the regional ICT centre of excellence.
He added that Rwanda invited Carnegie Mellon University to Join this Vision and the partnership was established when President Paul Kagame came to Cargenie Mellon’s home campus in Pittsburgh in September 2011.
