The conman dressed in full combat uniform had hired the motor taxi but on reaching the city centre, he told the motor taxi operator that he had foreign currency and that he would need to go to a Forex bureau to acquire local currency in order to pay the motor taxi operator.
Also the ‘soldier’ requested the motor taxi operator to lend him Frw28,000 and would refund it after exchanging at the forex bureau.
The motor taxi operator didn’t not hesitate and gave him the cash. Its when the ‘soldier’ walked into Nayrugenge market complex claiming he was going to exchange the foreign currency then return to refund the Motor taxi operator.
However, on entering the market, the Motor taxi operator noticed an unusual behaviour exhibited by the ‘soldier’after he walked past the Forex Bureau and hurrying as though trying to escape.
The motor taxi operator was prompted to alert other motor taxi operators and guards and the market who later nabbed the ‘soldier’ and handed him to Police.
