Kagame in Abuja for 24th World Economic Forum

{{President Kagame today arrived in Abuja to attend the 24th World Economic Forum.

Themed “Forging Inclusive Growth, Creating Jobs” this year’s forum brings together more than 1,000 business leaders and government officials from across the world to discuss innovative structural reforms and investments that will create jobs and ensure sustainable growth across Africa.}}

President Kagame will begin the day with the “Free to Travel” session, which will explore ways to remove barriers to travel of goods, services and people in order to increase intra-African trade and talent mobility.

President Kagame will end the day with the Grow Africa initiative panel – a platform seeking to accelerate investments and transformative change in agriculture on the continent.

Speaking on Rwanda’s role at the World Economic Forum, Finance Minister Gatete emphasized the potential to forge partnerships for ensuring sustainable growth:

“Over the last decade Rwanda has made great economic strides and, today, our country has one of the best environments for business on the continent.

But as we look to make the next step in our journey – and aim to become a middle-income country by 2020 – this forum presents a great opportunity for us to speak to experts and investors from around the world, and promote the economic prospects Rwanda presents.”

On the second day of the forum, President Kagame will address the opening plenary “Unlocking Job Creating Growth.” The session will discuss sustainable growth and practical ways to address the challenge of job creation across the continent.

Hosted by President Goodluck Jonathan and the World Economic Forum, the two day meeting will be attended by 15 heads of State and government, including Chinese Premier, Li Keqiang and President Kenyatta of Kenya.
