The graduation ceremony was presided over by Dr. Samuel Rugambage Secretary General of Conseil Protestant au Rwanda (CPR) held Saturday at the school campus.
The occasion which started a little bit late to the time that had been scheduled due to students coming late, later turned to be colourful as more invited guests arrived and being immersed in the fully packed entertainment by the students.
At the ceremony guests and grandaunts were treated to a variety of entertainment including; Modern dance, traditional music, Kirundi traditional dance and comedy all performed by students.
Students graduated in different subjects both in sciences and arts classified in different combinations that included MPC, PCM, MEG and other, each letter represents a subjects for example M- Mathematics, E- economic, P- Physics, C- Computer science.
The guest list included among others; Bishop John Rucyahana – founder of Sonrise School, and The Rt. Rev. Dr. Laurent Mbanda the bishop of Shyira Diocese.
Others include religious, government, civil society, private sector leaders flanked by all teachers of both Sonrise Primary and High school.
Rugambage who was also the guest of honor advised students to stand up and make a difference in their respective communities.
Bishop Laurent Mbanda emphasized the significant changes at Sonrise since its
establishment. The school boasts of quality education and high standards of discipline among the students.
The Bishop said he shifted his office from the Diocese to the school to improve discipline and quality of the school.
Parents were urged to contribute towards the better performance of their children.
It was noted that brilliant students would be accepted and offered scholarships in USA and Japan, China,Malaysia, South Africa, Uganda, Kenya and India.
