Kirehe : RYOSD Youth donate to Rwandan – Tanzania Refugees

{On thursday 31st 0ctober 2013, Rwanda Youth for sustainable development (RYOSD) provided a number of equipments worth 1000,000 Rwandan francs to support Rwandan refugees deported from Tanzania.}

During an interview with IGIHE, some of these refugees who are temporarily staying in Kiyanzi camp expressed their appreciation for the support they received from RYOSD.

Rwigema faustin, an 81 year old resident at the Kiyanzi camp received a trouser and a shirt, he stated “through these donations, I feel a sense of hope in Rwanda to get back what we lost in Tanzania”. Another resident in the camp who was also a beneficiary of the donations also expressed his appreciation, “am very happy and I thank the youth for the clothes we have been given “said Sifa.

The president of RYOS,D Hategekimana Richard told IGIHE that idea of visiting and providing such support for these refugees came from all the members of the group.
He added that, they are patriots who love their country and believe in supporting other citizens who are living in such conditions similar to the deported Rwandan refugees who are currently living in the Kiyanzi camp.

Byukusenge Madeleine, who is in charge of good leadership in the Eastern province, said “Besides the donations from various Government and non governmental organizations, the refugees in Kiyanzi camp are also taught about other government programs that will support them in future self reliance, after they leave the camp”. Byukusenge added that the district in partnership with the ministry of leadership, are making plans to help the Kiyanzi camp residents settle in homes like other Rwandan citizens.

Currently, over 3,500 refugees have been received since 15th July 2013, this figure is based on statistical data from the camp.
