Currently the project by Del Aqua Company is now in a pilot phase and the company distributed water filters and efficiency cooking stoves among 2 300 households.
According to Del Aqua officials in Karongi, the projects will generate the carbon credits through CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) and these credits will enable the water treatment system to generate revenues from the production of clean water and cooking stoves to generate revenues from reduction in fuel wood consumption.
Officials added that the project is in line with government strategy for reducing green house gases emission and contribute to economic development and poverty alleviation by job creation .
