40 arrested on counts of genocide ideology during commemoration week

{As the 22nd commemoration of 1994 genocide against the Tutsi came to an end, a total of people were being held in police custody, accused of promoting genocide ideology. }

In an exclusive interview the Rwanda National Police spokesperson, ACP Celestin Twahirwa held with IGIHE, he said the arrested are accused of using a foul language and words that hurt survivors, ostracizing the genocide survivors and trivializing genocide.

The executive secretary, CNLG, Dr. Jean Damascene Bizimana told IGIHE that the number of genocide ideologists has drastically gone down but even the few that remain need to be helped to completely abandon that hatred talk. He said that they will continue neutralizing genocide ideology whenever it sprouts its head and taking to court and punishing the guilty ones.
