Nearly 3,500 rebels of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) and their dependents have expressed a willingness to drop their guns and return to Rwanda.
The move started Tuesday 1st January.
The traditional leader in North Kivu told Radio Okapi in DRC, that most of the rebels are coming from forests of Nindja, Kalonge, Bunyakiri to Luhago-center, Kabare (South Kivu) of the east of the DRC.
Demobilization and repatriation Section of MONUSCO in Bukavu said it heard the news and sent a team to the site to learn more about the reason for the FDLR movement.
MONUSCO is ready to welcome and repatriate candidates’ volunteers from its base in Walungu.
