{The Chancellery for Heroes, National Orders and Decorations of Honour (CHENO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Culture have unveiled that 35 people are set to be added on the list of National Heroes after confirmation with the government. }
This has been revealed today in a press briefing meant to give an insight to Rwandans about the preparations of the National Heroes Day celebrated on 1st February each year since 1999.
The Minister of Sports and Culture, Uwacu Julienne has said that citizens provided a list of 200 candidates for recognition as national heroes adding that research is underway to confirm whether they are worth the status.
The head of CHENO, Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi has said that 35 people are being scrutinized to establish whether their deeds qualify them heroes.
He explained that they are awaiting confirmation from the government before being classified in various categories of heroes including Imena,Imanzi and Ingenzi along with others who will be decorated with medals.
