29 Rwandans Committed Suicide in 2012

“Statistics show that from January to November 2012, twenty-nine (29) cases of suicide were recorded in the country,” reads a statement from the police.

The most common causes of these suicides are a result of family disputes, land disputes, social and economic problems.

However, police believe that family conflicts are the main cause of most cases of suicide registered in Rwanda.

Police draws attention to the fact that suicide affects families of the deceased in various ways.

Their widows and orphans become vulnerable and easily affected by poverty which can lead to attrition, prostitution and delinquency.
