275 Nyabihu Residents to be Evicted

{{Over 275 residents are slated for eviction in Nyabihu district targeting various sectors including; Mukamira, Karago, Jenda, Jomba, Kabatwa among others.}}

The eviction is aimed at relocating the affected residents to safer areas not prone to climatic disasters.

However, the affected residents have raised their concerns saying they havent been shown places for their relocation.

A District official Sahunkuye Alexandre said the affected residents will be sheltered by other residents in safer places as authorities find new sites at which they will be alocated plots.

He also said the affected residents will be settled along the roads (linear settlement) and leave their current uphill homes which could easily be washed away by runoff water which could destroy their homes and lives.

Sahunkuye said the district is aware of the plight of the affected residents but the decision to have them sheltered by friends was reached at after a consusltative meeting during which they agreed relocation was urgent.
