2 Drug Dealers Arrested

Police have arrested two drug dealers, Jean Nzeyimana and Jean Biramahire in Nyagatovu cell, Kimironko sector in Gasabo district on Sunday.

The duo were arrested at about 10:00 am after they were found with 841 pellets of cannabis. They are currently held at Remera Police Station with exhibits.

The Central Region Police Spokesman, Albert N. Gakara urged Rwandans still engaged in such activities to find other alternatives of making a living “because Police will not tolerate any person who is involved in such criminal acts.”

“Many awareness campaigns have been carried out in all parts of the country in bid to sensitise people on the dangers of drugs, and the law is clear to those still involved in drug dealings,” said Supt. Gakara.

“I am urging the general public to enhance the sharing of timely information with security organs and continue reporting all these drug dealers so as to have a society free of drugs,” he added.

“Rwanda National Police is trying hard to locate and cut all supply routes and it is in this regard that the public is being urged to work together with Police to eliminate drug dealing and consumption which hinders economic development.”

Growing, selling, transformation, transportation, storage and consumption of narcotic drugs are prohibited in Rwanda, except in cases and conditions specified by law.
