{Seven former FDLR militia and nine civilians repatriated yesterday from Walikale region of Eastern Democratic of Congo.}
Arriving in Rwanda, repatriates revealed that they decided to come back home, escaping poor living conditions and incessant attacks from DRC troops.
They have however, said that they would have come back home long time ago, but whoever is caught in the process of coming home is severely punished.
“We lived in a camp of disabled and wounded people. DRC troops conducted raids last week onto our camps. We were all displaced and I immediately took the decision to return with my family,” said Bahemukiyiki Hassan who is crippled.
He requests former neighbors remaining in forests to return to their mother country.
